The 3DO games console machines were released during 1993 by three different companies - Panasonic, Goldstar and Sanyo - its main innovation was the fact that it was the first to offer a 32 bit gaming system. Running games from CD, they only had a single controller port and could only handle 5 buttons on the controller. It could also play audio CDs, photo disks and video, as well as games, although with a $700 price tag, it was beyond the reach of the mass market. Alas the price led to few games being released for the 3DO console, and consequently it's main appeal is to the collector. |
